Project YOU, daily practices.
I’ve been thinking about a better way for our Project You discussions to continue on this site. Rather than having one thread that we have to scroll to the bottom of each time I have decided to add a new topic each week. I hope everyone is okay with that idea, it just feels like a better way to keep the conversation focused.

So, this week lets talk about our routines or rituals. John talks a lot about the importance of consistency. A commitment to a daily practice. So, what is your daily spiritual commitment? For me it is my morning routine of journaling, yoga and intention setting. There are morning that I would rather just grab a bowl of oatmeal and head out the door….but I don’t because it would be a bit like skipping brushing my teeth and I would feel grungy all day.

Eager to hear what you do daily to stay connected
Happy Monday,
Lindalee

This will be a good way to follow the subject easier.

I like to keep my affirmations on my phone. I have several of them set to pop up on my notifications twice a day. I alway have my phone near by so that is never a problem. I always start my day with a shower so I do protect myself first thing. With the help of this feed and both Lindalee and you I am getting back with the practice of a meditation before coffee and a shower.......on a regular schedule.
I find this experience (checking in here) like have walking partners......much easier to stick with the program I have for myself , If I have any dreams or thoughts pop into my head I record that in my journal first thing in the morning. i need to record my thoughts before I get consumed with something else.
Well time to start my day and get back on my normal schedule. Enjoy your day Ladies!

Hi Lindalee,
I start my day by journaling as soon as I get up so I can get things down while they're still fresh in my mind. I then move on to meditation by listening to music that moves me spiritually. By my avatar you might have guessed I'm a huge fan of the outdoors and especially the National Parks so I like to listen to the soundtrack from Ken Burns, The National Parks - America's Best Idea. Then I set my intentions for the day because energetically I feel the strongest at that point and believe this strength will set my intentions solid. After that I like to have a hot breakfast to warm up from the inside and for me, that keeps the positive energy flowing.

Most nights I relax by reading or listening to music and some more journaling. This is not my main journal just a notebook I keep that I jot down whatever comes into my head no matter what it is. I just give my mind a free reign to open up and let things flow to see what it and my possibly my Guides come up with. Sometimes I look back at pages from days ago and remember writing all that stuff but the "feeling" or "spark" I had at the time I wrote has now passed. I believe this is an effective way for my Guides and I to work together and just a nice way to end the day. Thank you for opening up this discussion. I look forward to see what others have to say.

It is great to hear everyone's process and see the similarities. I am going to use the idea of putting notifications on your phone through out the day, brilliant! It seems we all have a solid morning routine and I agree Rob, that is when I feel strongest energetically. I do think the key to becoming centered and balance is starting the day right.

I am just getting serious about actually meditating. Before Project You I guess I believed my journaling was a form of meditation and I get in a very meditative space when I paint. I like the charkra meditation on this site but what is really working for me is a crystal bowl meditation I found on the internet. I am able to close my eyes and get inside a little better with it. Each bowl has a tone that corresponds with the chakra. It is about 15 minutes long...I will share the link later.

Have a great Tuesday,
Lindalee!

I'm glad you liked the crystal bowl meditation Peachy! The bowls really resonate (no pun intended) with me. The same company has a free video that is 70 minutes. I will give that one try once I am ready to sit for that long.

I have to share this neat little coincidence. This afternoon I am meeting with a good friend who in her 40ies left a successful marketing job to become an astrologer. She is honestly the only reason I have any connection to astrology. I support what she does because she is my friend but with skepticism. Every year she does a chart for my birthday. That’s why we are meeting this afternoon. This morning my affirmation from Project YOU….wait for it…….
..........“Dear Universe, I will open my horizons to the world of astrology.”
How cool is that!

Happy Birthday Lindalee............I love when the sign is in your face.........and you just step back and smile.

Are you using any other tools??? Someone mentioned drawing a card daily.....was that you? After being exposed to the symbol cards on this sight I purchased my own deck. Daily I draw one card just to see what the message for the day is.

You said you were going back thru the Project You course.......what part are you on right now? Enjoy your day!

Hi Peachy,
Yes, I pull a card every morning. Right now I am using a deck called "The Gospel of Aradia". I usually pull it after I journal and then journal a little more about what it feels like it means.. I am going back through the Project You and right now I am on lesson 3. So much to think about, it is really making me look closely at my motivation.
Thanks for the birthday wish!!

This mornings affirmation was about overcoming limitations. I took the step to write it down and then realized that I needed to spend some time with it to recognize what my limitations are which led to much deeper thoughts and a more potent affirmation.

Do you spend time processing the morning affirmations deeply before heading out into your day? If so what is your process?
Happy Thursday

Hi Lindalee,
Happy Birthday!

When I state an affirmation and I think it needs more processing immediately I will give it the time it required. However the process that works best for me is to make the statement and then try to hold it in my mind throughout the day. I find those moments when I'm not thinking about it are the moments of revelation(s) and I write the thought(s) down. Later when I get home, I revisit my original statement and any notes I have made to see what I have learned for that day and how I am progressing. I believe the bits I get throughout the day are my Guides working with my subconscious to help me move in the direction I am supposed to be going.

With regards to Astrology as I said in the comments section of this weeks topic I hold a little skepticism as well but I know that is coming from a place of fear. My fear of being viewed as weird or different and I know that. The good news is that my whole life I have refused to let my fears beat me. I have always said that I have fear but refuse to be afraid meaning the things I fear are the things I will head straight for and take on. Apparently my Guides are in agreement as they have pointed me in the direction of Astrology. So I will be learning Astrology soon but prefer to learn things the manual way before using the technology so if you or anyone knows a good instructor who likes to teach "old school" I would like to know. I have looked into Sam and Sandy's classes but would be open to any other Astrologists who are willing, reputable and passionate about their craft. Happy Birthday again!

Thank you,
Rob

Hi Rob,
I like your approach to the affirmations. Yesterday I had several moments where my limitations were pointed out to me and I am sure that is because my subconscious was holding the affirmation.

Good luck with your astrology quest. My astrologer friend gave me the book "Astrology for Dummies" the other day...maybe that is a start!
Happy Friday.

Hi Lindalee,
Thank you. My method helps me set and truly live my affirmation. I have a very active mind which is great for exploring the world but makes meditation tough sometimes. The "flashes" of insight that come to me during the day help me to know the thought is real and not my mind exploring again. Writing the bits down helps me add to the original thought which in turn helps me to get the "bigger" picture.

I will take a look at the Astrology for Dummies book, it's a good place to start. I have been torn on whether to pursue independent study first or jump right in with an instructor. I value my own path and thoughts on things so I know they are genuine but sometimes that makes it difficult to "deprogram" when working with someone else's method. I believe the Astrology for Dummies book will give me good generic base to build on. Thanks again.

Rob

Good luck with Astrology Rob. I have been exploring it based on Project YOU's suggestion. I don't have a desire to go too deep with the how of it but will continue to trust the wisdom of my friend who has studied it in depth.
